Borderline Conditions

2010 – Borderline Conditions are criteria for a city edge aiming at a vital cityscape. The strategic criteria are designed to stimulate urban development on the city border of Almere, with a strong connection over the water to Amsterdam. Ten percent of the commuter traffic can be transported by water, which evolves in a relieve of the currently overloaded car traffic between these cities. Along the dike we find several different landscape scenarios that can be deployed. On the dike are several Borderline Transfer Points where the traffic from and to Amsterdam meets the water taxis along the waterfront of the cityscape. The passengers also can transfer to trains, subway, bus or personal transportation.
